NATURAL CALAMITIES

Natural calamities are nothing but an event that happens in nature of their own accord. Some of the most common natural calamities are:

• Earthquakes
• Ice storms
• Floods
• Volcanic eruptions
• Landslides
• Fires
• Hurricanes
• Tornadoes

Earthquake Engineering is a group which protects the life and property from the natural calamities. Overflow of the rivers causes floods which is also a natural disaster. Large wavelength water waves are called Tsunami. All these natural calamities occur without any indications and they are very dangerous to the living people. For the past seven years, the death toll has been increased by the natural disasters.

So for the largest earthquake recorded in the world was a magnitude 9.5 (Mw) in Chile on May 22, 1960. Serious damages have happened due to this earthquake. The most destructive natural calamity happened in 2006 was Tsunami. Large number of people had lost their life in this disaster. The most important fact is that everybody should respond quickly towards rehabilitating the people affected by natural calamities.
